Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida
In January, I received a pink summons ticket by an NYPD officer for possession of Marijuana. The officer instructed me to be present in NYC for my court date. I'm 18 years old and a resident of South Florida and currently enrolled as a 12th grader in public school. My question is: Can I get it sorted out down here? If not should I hire an attorney to go to court for me?

Get a New York lawyer. You should be able to obtain an Adjournment in Contemplation of Dismissal (ACOD) whereby the charges will be dismissed if you are not re-arrested within six months. If not, you are eligible to be treated as a Youthful Offender (YO). Don't ignore it or there will be a warrant outstanding for your arrest.
You must defend the ticket in New York or hire an attorney there to represent you in court.
