can a jury verdict be over turned by a trail judge

Yes it can. It rarely happens. Maybe once ina judges career. The judge must find no reasonable man could find as the jury did.

In a criminal case, a judge can reverse a verdict of guilty and change it to not guilty, but not the opposite. In all my 20 years of practice, though, I've only seen it happen once.
