kidnapping

I was walking in a gas station prkn lot holding my 8yr grnddghtrs hand a man pulled up behind us in his car & jump out & grabed her in a bear hug yelling he loved her my husbnd runs over yelling who are u get your hands off of her he yells I love her and grabs her again my husband pushes him off I pull her to safty and the guy punches my husband and they start fighting The guy pulled up behind us 5 maybe 10 feet leaves his car running and the car door opened We felt very threatened shear TERROR we believe that his intentions was to kidnap her, after him being on the run for a week he was arrested for kidnapping and assult. He is saying that he seen that she had Down syndrome and he only wanted to hug her and that my husband attacked him first well yea! What words can we use to describe or terror and our fears of ourselfs and granddaughters new fears we truley 100% he had criminal intent. This happened in Marion co. Ocala Fl. 3/15/07 you can look it up on their website. He has a criminal past that we cant find out about and he did have a female companion that drove away. I want to know what our chances are on getting him locked up for a long time. Thank you

I am very sorry for the fact that you had to experience this situation.

You should contact the local police authority to file a complaint. They will be hopefully able to determine if this is a matter that they will refer to the State Attorney for prosecution.
