what kind of charges can you press if a person trys to cash a check that wasnt made out to them??

You can ask the state attorney if charges can be brought for forgery, or fraud, or obtaining property for a worthless check. There are several possible scenarios. However, ONLY the prosecutor can press charges; it is up to the individual whether to report it.
