Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

they knew this would happen, why did they allow this.

i have a very close friend who was a law enforcement officer for 8 years. This guy recieved serval letters of accommdation and so on. He was assigned to the Special Investigation Divison at a Sheriff' Officer and worked an narcoitcs undercover officer for 14 months without break. I seen the change in him along with other close friends. His job undercover was buying and selling drugs in this undercover criminal life style he lived. He was so good contracts were placed on his life.(true story) He was charged with theft and arrested by his own agency. What happen? I have been looking for information on why undercover cops have such a problem with breaking the law, but I have more of a problem with the agency who left him in this state. I see it on T.V. all the time, when these officers left undercover for more than 6 months without pshyco. evalution become these criminals. Why didn't his agency help? He is currently seeing a police phsyco. who said this is common, but he is currently paying for this consul, out of own pocket and has been placed into long term consul. Is there any criminal law case which can help him? and is this a good civil case against the Sheriff's Office for what they did? this occurred in Florida.

the short answer is "no", i doubt the police could be held liable for intentional criminal conduct of an officer. while i see your position that it was the agency who allowed him to deteriorate they would argue that ultimately individuals make their own choices and for every cop that crosses the line, one is able to stay straight. the line between right and wrong can blur, and when reality is the wrong side, and you start to identify with that side, the lienes get even blurrier.
