Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

i have a lady calling me from somwhere on behalh of a pay day loan company in florida. she says she is a legal mediator and is theatning me with jail time and revoked license for check fraud for not paying back a loan i got 5 years ago. she will not send me any paper work.

Anyone attempting to collect a legitimate debt must comply with the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act ("FDCPA"). What you've described sounds like what a number of unscrupulous collections agencies do to pressure people into paying debts. Many of these folks are collecting on legitimate debts through illegitimate means and methods. A quick internet search of the company name and the caller's name may reveal more information on who they are and whether their company has had similar complaints against them. You may consider calling the Attorney General's office to speak with someone about consumer law compliance issues as well.
