Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

Lawyer Withdraws

We have obtained a lawyer for 12,000. We have paid him 6,000. After 7 months of being on the case, my boyfriend wants to go to trial. He is now requesting withdrawl from the case, due to conflicting opinions. The only conflict is he wants my bofriend to take a plea but my boyfriend wants to go to trial. Now my boyfriend is left without councel 2 months before trial/ Is there something I can do to prevent his withdrawl?

Re: Lawyer Withdraws

NOTE: This communication is not intended as and should not be interpreted as legal advice. Rather, it is intended solely as a general discussion of legal principles. You should not rely on or take action based on this communication without first presenting ALL relevant details to a competent attorney in your jurisdiction and then receiving the attorney's individualized advice for you. By reading the "Response" to your question or comment, you agree that the opinion expressed is not intended to, nor does it, create any attorney-client relationship, nor does it constitute legal advice to any person reviewing such information, nor will it be considered an attorney-client privileged communication. If you do not agree, then stop right here, and do not read any further.

You have the right to object. Make the court aware of your objection. Keep in mind that if your boyfriend has failed to pay the balance of the fees, the court may be quite understanding as legal fees in a criminal case are generally paid at the inception of retaining an attorney but certainly before any case goes to trial.
