legal liability of step parent
I my teenagers hurt or kill someone in an auto accident can my husband, their step father, be sued and our house taken (only in his name.

It depends. Parents are generally liable for the negligent acts of the children. Step-parents don't have similar liability, but your husband may have liability in other ways, such as if his name were on the car title. Houses can't usually been taken in Florida, where they are protected by homestead, but a lien could be placed on the house if your husband were somehow subject to liability.
