Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

I live in Florida and went to two different doctors to get klonopin. I heard there is a database that the police monitor and now I am afraid that I might get arrested. Is the law that you can not refill a prescription for klonopin more than once a month even if it is from different doctors and you go to different pharmacies. What are the chances of me being arrested? Also what is Florida law? Is it that you can not get klonopin twice a month? What is the exact law?

It's not the number of times, but probably the fact that you went to two different doctors for the same medication within those 30 days. It is possible you may be red flagged and investigated, but a lot depends on your intent. Specifically, you need to look to Fla. Stat. 893.13(7)(a). The language is long and complicated but the most relevant section I have included here:

8. Withhold information from a practitioner from whom the person seeks to obtain a controlled substance or a prescription for a controlled substance that the person making the request has received a controlled substance or a prescription for a controlled substance of like therapeutic use from another practitioner within the previous 30 days.

9. Acquire or obtain, or attempt to acquire or obtain, possession of a controlled substance by misrepresentation, fraud, forgery, deception, or subterfuge.

So, if you defrauded either doctor, you might be investigated. I would suggest you talk to an attorney in your area to give them more information and see what can be done to protect yourself.
