Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida
How long can they extend someone's incarceration without them actually being charged with a crime. My brother has been in the Sarasota County Jail in Florida for 30 days and the State asked for a 2nd extension until October 4th which will make 44 days in jail. No charges have been filed yet.

The state only has 33 days to hold them and then an additional 7 days after that for good cause. I'm sure you have an attorney to file the proper motions and if you don't, then get one immediately.
