Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

how long does the state of FL have to extradite someone from GA back to FL. My son is in violation of probation from 2 charges in fl that are over 4-5 years old. He lived in NY and then moved to GA recently and was picked up Monday.

They usually have 30 days to extradite. That is assuming, there is nothing in GA or any other state holding him. If he has GA charges pending, then the 30 day clock doesn't start until he has resolved those charges. Also keep in mind that even if Florida decides not to extradite him, that doesn't mean the charges in Florida go away. He will still have to deal with those at some point and if he ever gets arrested in Florida or another state again, they may decide to extradite at that time.
