Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

If a main charge is forgery and was nolle prossed because of not having enough evidence to prosecute, shouldn't the other charges that were brought up along with the nolle prossed charges be dropped. How can other charges of theft and uttering stick if the main charges of forgery have been nolled prossed?

You do not provide enough information to answer the question as it pertains to your specific situation; but, there are many possible reasons.

One reason is that the charge was dismissed as part of a plea agreement.

Another reason is that it was show the check belonged to the defendant, but that the defendant did not have sufficient funds (the uttering), but still wrote the check as payment for property (grand theft).
