Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

misdemeanorama

My friend has been charged with 3 misdemeanors.

1. providing a false name

2. passing a worthless check

3. driving on a suspended license with knowledge.

She's a single mother and just barely scraping by as it is. What are her options and a possible ballpark figure of what her total fines might be? Also She has already posted a $600 bond. Will that be applied to any fines?

This is in Pinellas county fl.. Any information would be helpful. Thank you

It depends on her prior record and the exact facts. If you want to help her e-mail me your phone # to discuss further.

If you do not agree, then stop right here, and do not read any further.

It would depend on whether or not she has ever had any prior convictions as points are assessed that get progressively higher and are counted cumulatively towards the penalty and fines. If this is her first offense, she might be able to get into a pre trial diversionary program which, if successfully completed, will result in no fines being levied after payment of program fees.

Her bond will not be used towards payment of costs or fees. The bond is given to guarantee that she will appear in court on the date of any hearing or trial.
