Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

Misdomeanor Assualt

I was charged with a Misdomeanor Assualt and all that the guy suffered was a broken finger. How much can I be ordered to pay in restitution? I was given 1 year probation. It was my first and only offense. The Public Defendor hasn't helped represent me one bit.

NOTE: This communication is not intended as and should not be interpreted as legal advice. Rather, it is intended solely as a general discussion of legal principles. You should not rely on or take action based on this communication without first presenting ALL relevant details to a competent attorney in your jurisdiction and then receiving the attorney's individualized advice for you. By reading the "Response" to your question or comment, you agree that the opinion expressed is not intended to, nor does it, create any attorney-client relationship, nor does it constitute legal advice to any person reviewing such information, nor will it be considered an attorney-client privileged communication. If you do not agree, then stop right here, and do not read any further.

The public defender has apparently done more for you than you realize. They would not have been appointed unless you were facing jail time. By your plea, it is obvious that they were able to keep you out of jail and get only 1 year of probation which I would think is a wonderful result. As to the amount of restitution, it is impossible to say without further information. You should speak with your attorney who is far more knowledgable about your case.
