Re: mother took my money

When you cross that magic line from 17 into 18, you're supposed to know better. The general rule in Florida is that, if you put money into a joint account, it suddenly belongs to both people, and either person can withdraw all the money.

You still may be able to get back the money, though. You say she tricked you, but you don't say how. If she really did trick you (and you weren't just being stupid), you can sue her for the money she took, saying that she tricked into putting the money into a joint account. It's not likely that you can get the police or the State Attorney's Office to file criminal charges against her, but you could try.
