Murder
If someone is acquitted on a charge of murder can the same person be charged of murder at a later date if that person confesses to the murder.

Not by the same prosecuting authority. The Federal government however, may try to bring a civil rights case or another type of criminal case against him if they can so as to avoid his "getting away with murder." so the answer is probably:
