Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

Nosy questionairre, release of ss#, medical & school records required?

My 17 year old was caught with marijuana at school.I don't even know yet if he is going to be charged.I just received a letter from a probation officer summoning us to a meeting with him.Enclosed were several releases to sign and a nosy questionairre asking such things as what is our family income, what church do we go to, how do we discipline our children, what kind of house do we have, names and birthdates of other children in the house, what is his social security number,is this parents first marriage, etc.Do I have to answer all these?I don't want personal family information permanently recorded with the government. They are also asking me to sign releases for school records, medical records and another one that appears to be an open-ended permission to collect any information they want - even about us, the parents. Also, do I have to give them his social security number? This number is for social security, employment and taxes. What do they want with it?I don't want this stupid thing he did as a teenager following him around for life, easily traceable through his ss number.Do I have to give them this?

DO NOT tell the school anything or give them information about yourself or your child. First, the meeting is basically a hoop jumping exercise that you CANNOT win. More than likely your child will be suspended from school and placed in another school to finish out the year. You must get an experienced criminal defense attorney who can handle your case through the juvenile court system to protect his record. The situation that you are in can be serious and it is most important to strike back and defend your child. There could be various defenses open to you and you SHOULD DEFINITLY explore them. GOOD LUCK, and I hope this helps. If you need more feel free to call. [321-259-1705].
