Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida
penalties for embezzlement
A family friend was arrested in Florida and charged with embezzling approximately $20,000. Bail has been posted, but my question is - what is the worst case scenario? This person has children and we need to be prepared for any jail time if necessary. They (the children) may be required to move up here. What are the penalties for a crime of this nature?
Thank you.

Re: penalties for embezzlement
In NJ this is a crime of the third degree. A person faces up to 5 years in jail. Without a prior criminal record that individual may be placed on probation.
You need to hire a attorney for this individual. I will be very happy to recommend somenone for you in Florida. I can be reached at 201-646-9600.
