Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida
If a person enters my unlocked home without permission or invitation, what actions may I legally take (am I within my rights to hit them with a baseball bat for instance)?

You have every right to stand your ground and protect yourself with a bat or even deadly force. Of course, investigations by the police will take all factors into consideration but you are within your rights.
