Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida
if a police detective calls and wants to ask questions on tape about a unknown crime from 2 years ago should i willingly submit any answers to him or not

Absolutely not!! You should not give any statement(s) to law enforcement without first speaking with a criminal defense attorney and/or having one present with you at the scene of any questioning.
You really have nothing to gain and much to lose at this point. I would contact a local criminal defense attorney in your area for advice from this point on.

I agree with the statement of the previous lawyer but wanted to add some helpful information.
Remember that the 5th Amendment to the Constitution states that you cannot be compelled to testify against yourself in a criminal prosecution.
Also, the 6th ammendment states that you have a right to an attorney of your choosing at any stage of the case and I would invoke this right also.
You don't want to give them any evidence that they do not already have by speaking to them.
