Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida
the police came to my house with an arrest warrant for my boyfriend who was charged with possession of cannabis under 20 grams, but missed the court date which he never got any notifications for a court date. He does not live with me, but I can get in trouble for not telling ht police where he is? and would they keep watch on my house or come search again? in addition, he could not get a public defender since he has a bench warrant for his arrest so the court told him he can try to call the judge and see if he would dismiss it and reset a court date. Will that work?
1 Answer from Attorneys
If you know where he is and don't tell the police, then they could charge you with obstructing justice. Yes they could continue to watch your house in order to serve the warrant on him. You can try calling the judge but depending on the judge, most will require that he turn himself in and then go in front of the judge. You should consider hiring an attorney to set up the motion with the judge. If you can't afford an attorney then you will have to turn himself in and the court will appoint the public defender. Good luck.
