can this be right
if the police receives a tip saying that a suspiscious person is sitting in a car. The police arrives and discovers that this suspect is at his home and verifies that everything infact check out and drivers license is valid does the officer have a right to search tha vehicle.

After a police officer determines that you are ok and pose no danger to him the police only have the right to search the vehicle with your consent or if they have probable cause to search the vehicle. Generally, a police officer may not search, but can look in the vehicle absent probable cause to search or consent. If your situation is as you described it, you may have a good motion to supress any contraband that was found as a result of the illegal search.
