possesion of cocaine

i was arrested for possesion of cocaine last night while driving as a passenger in my friends car. the car was stopped for a moving violation. i was searched and they found cocaine in my wallet on the dasboard. i admitted that it was mine. the lawyer that was in the court had me plead not guilty. i am due in court monday and have no idea what to do or say in court. even though i admitted that is was my drug should i continue to plead not guilty to the felony or should i hire an attorney? i have never been in trouble with the law before. i really need your help as i support and care for my elderly mother and have been told i can go to jail due to this.
