Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida
pretrial cotinuance
08/22/01 charged w/ dom.violence & resisting w/ violence.state att. wont drop 2nd charge to missdamenor,so my att. opted for trial and requested discovery,as of this date state has still not turned over anything,on third continuance.my att. has told me from reading the arrest report that he thinks the charges were trumped up against me because my ex's mother is retired s/o,and the officers that came to arrest me knew the family. all the resisting w/v was,was that when they pushed their way into the house one of them cut his arm on a nail in the door,as for the domestic,i was ordered into a 26wk. dom. vio.program of witch i have two classes left to attend, and its my understanding that apon finishing it this charge will be droped. so my question is,am i better off letting this draw out as long as possible,or should i want to put an end to it a.s.a.p,and if i do either what might i expect the outcome to be? thanks for your help!
