Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

Probation

My probation was just terminated (4/6/06). I was on probation from 2001 to 2006 (with 2 revocations and violations in between). Since my last sentencing (3/4/2005) I've not had any problems. Yesterday, right after my probation was terminated I was contacted by a detective who wants to charge me with a case from 2004. Since I was on probation back in 2004 is that considered a violation? Or do I have to be on probation when I am charged in order for me to violate? I'm desperately seeking an answer to this.

In other words, if this detective were to charge me with a new offense from back in 2004 would I be able to be released on bond, or would I be held because of a probation violation, although my probation was terminated completely on 4/6/2006.

Re: Probation

Probabtion is terminated. Once it's terminated it is terminated. You may be charged with a new crime but not a VOP. Don't talk to the police. You do not have to. Wait, if they think they can make a 2004 case stick then they will file. If that happens then you need an attorney-then call me.
