Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

Profiling

I work for an electric company that has employees searching for hispanic names with phone numbers in the south Florida region. Then they locate the address and ''look'' for signs of a grow house and then give information to the local police. Some of these people who were charged with a crime are in state and Federal court. Is this type of practise legal for our electric company employees legal or are they putting the company at risk?

Private citizens have a right to report crime to the police if they believe that a crime is being committed. As far as risk the company it could cause some BAD PR.
