Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida
I received a MIP - Minor in Possession of alcohol charge back in 2007, during which time I completed a diversion program and paid a fee. Recently, I received a Violation of County Ordinance Misdemeanor charge in Tampa, Florida, for having an open container of alcohol in an area where it was forbidden. I was stopped and given the arrest as I was walking towards the Gasparilla Parade route. What can I expect going into court? I cannot afford legal counsel and am in the process of searching for employment, so I am concerned about this affecting background checks.

It will probably only be a fine, but it is important that the judge withhold adjudication otherwise this will always be a conviction on your record.
