If you have not yet resolved the case, then I would suggest you try to get into a diversion program through the State Attorney's office which will result in the charge getting dismissed. After it is dismissed it can be expunged. If you have already resolved the case and received a withhold of adjudication you can have the record sealed, and eventually expunged.
Before any person can have a case wiped from their record the case must be dismissed or dropped. If this is your first offense then it is likely that you would be offered some kind of diversion program. With Pretrial Diversion, Pretrial Intervention, Drug Court, or other similar programs, there are conditions a defendant must satisfy and upon successful completion then the charges are dropped. If the case is dropped then you can petition to have the entire case expunged, or wiped from your record.
