Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

I recently hired a lawyer for my son in simple domestic battery case. The lawyer had a fixed fee for this. I paid half and am schedule to pay the rest Monday. The lawyer was arrested Wednesday on a drug trafficking case. Here's the link to the news:

I am in schock as his credentials were impeccable. Where does my son's case stand? Cn he possibly continue to work on my son's case after this arrest> What are some of my options?

Unless the attorney is temporarily suspended by the Bar from the practice of law, he could still represent your son. However, I would find another lawyer. This one is not likely to be of much use to your son. However, you may have lost the part of the fee you've already paid.

This is definitely an unusual situation. Your attorney is still presumed innocent and could still represent you, but clearly he is going to be distracted. It is unlikely you will get what you paid back (depending on the contract), but you might want to seek new representation. If you're still comfortable with him stay with him. I do practice throughout Tampa Bay, so feel free to contact me about the situation and I'll see if I can help you out. My number is 727-528-1859.
