Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida
I recently received a written arrest for possession of alcohol for a person under 21. The officer said it's a second degree misdemeanor and That I have to appear in court in about a month for my hearig. This is my first time getting in any trouble with the law besides a speeding ticket. What are my chances of getting this situation expunged and approximatly how much would it cost?

The most important thing right now is how you handle the case. Given the minor nature of the charge you should try to get into a diversion program (often called PTI for Pre-trial Intervention). If you successfully complete the diversion program the charge will be dismissed and you can then have it expunged. If you plea to the charge and get a withhold you can have the record sealed and later expunged. If you are adjudicated guilty you can not have the arrest sealed or expunged. You can contact the State Attorney's office ahead of your court date to ask about the diversion program.
