Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida
I just recieved a driving ticket for driving a Golf cart {felony} the ticket states" LICENCE-FELONY DWLSR habitual offender, Now, just to let you know I have not had a drivers licence violation since 1997 I just was released from the Florida Dept. of Corrections as of 1-12-11 for a drug charge {20 months sales of diazapam and sales of ozycodone} and have NOT driven a vehicle since the 90s How can I recieve a FELONY when the florida state statutes state 3 driving violations in a 5 year period?

It's not possible to answer your question without reviewing your driving record. That being said, if you lost your license as a Habitual Traffic Offender for five years and never did anything to reinstate your driving privilege, you still do not have a valid license. I recommend you pull your driving record and sit down with a qualified criminal defense lawyer to review it together to determine what your options are.
There are a ton of reasons the state can suspend your license. A drug conviction is one of them. Just because this happened many years ago, it is still your burden to make sure your license is good. You may still be able to argue lack of knowledge, however, but you should take it up with your attorney.
