Required elements for grand theft auto conviction
My son was arrested for stealing his uncle's auto. He wanted me to try to find out the required elements for a grand theft auto conviction. Your help is appreciated.

Grand Theft of an Automobile is a third degree felony. The elements are that your son (1) knowingly (2) took without permission (3) someone eleses vehicle.
A defense to this charge is that your son believed he was allowed to take the vehicle for some reason.
