Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida
Resisting office w/o violence
I was arrested for talking back to an officer. I was walking home from my friends at 2am. He stopped me and my friends and began treating us like we were doing something wrong. This gave me a reason why to complain to him about the way he was treating us. He then became very angry and told me if I ask one more question he will arrest me, I answered back saying you cant arrest me for talking, and so he did. I was charged with resisting officer without violence, though I never resisted him in any way. I had to $150 to get out of jail and miss 2 work days. My charges were dropped 2 weeks later.
Will I be able to sue or somehow get my money back for a crime I never committed? This officer took advantage of his authority and placed me in jail for questioning his attitude towards me and my friends.

If you were falsely arrested for a crime you may be able to file a civil claim against the police department. You may wish to contact a civil rights attorney for assistance. Good Luck
