Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

thank you for your response in regaurds to my 17 year old cousin. Once the tape proves that the girl lied and gave a false statement to the sherriff and committed perjury can charges be pressed on her for that. Can we sue her civilly for emotional distress,defamition of character, and slander. Thank you for answering my questions I am trying to get some legal advice on how to help him.

You will need to talk to an attorney about any actions you can take. Right now, you should let the attorney assigned to the case handle the matter. Your questions should be directed to him/her through the accused. It is always my advice that one does not plea to something they didn't do, even to get out of jail, especially to a sex crime. It will always be regretted later. The decision to plea or go to trial is always up to the accused, not the attorney.
