Restraining order

I just want to know what the main reason for filing a restaining order would be? Can you file due to continuous verbal harassment?

Plain verbal harassment will probably not get a restraining order. It takes two allegations of stalking or actual violence or an actual arrest for domestic violence. The judge must feel you are in imminent danger. However, if you feel threatened please call the police.
