Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

Robbery- No firearm or weapon

My boyfriend of 2 years has been charged with Robbery- no firearm or weapon. We had an argument, he left the house, started using illegal drugs, then proceeded to rob a convenient store to gain a high. He passed a note to the cashier that read ''You know the drill''. He made the local newspaper twice (which I've heard is not good...considering it was time and cost to the state) prior to his arrest. He spoke to me about turning himself in on Wednesday morning (which was when I first heard he did something wrong...he did not fully explain, nor did he say directly what he did) Early afternoon Wednesday as we were getting out of the car, 2 undercover police officers ran up to myself and my two children with guns, demanding I get my bf from the home. He remains in their custody, and was booked into the county jail yesterday. I'm seeking any information as of what to expect within the next few months. His bail was set at $25,000. His next court date is the end of October. He has prior offenses. Nothing of serious nature. All traffic violations. (driving on suspended license) Seeing as this was a result of the drug taking over his mental state, what are we looking at?! I would greatly appreciate any & all advice. Our family is devastated.

It is impossible to tell you what to expect other than he will most likely have to either plea guilty or face a trial on the charges. He should retain the best attorney he can to defend him on these charges. If his prior offenses were considered criminal traffic, he may be facing jail time as a result. If they were only traffic offenses and this is his first criminal offense, it will be up to the court to determine just how serious this was and whether or not he will be facing incarceration.

It is impossible to tell. He faces up to 15 years in prison. With a plea he may be able to get some long term drug treatment instead of lengthy prison.
