Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

I am currently a senior in college studying architecture. Four years ago I was convicted of a felony (fleeing and elluding/ introduction of contraband in a detention facility). I wanted to know would I be able to get a professional license with those convictions in the state of Florida.

I honestly can't answer on the particular professional license you are seeking. However, if it is anything like Florida handles these for attorneys, the answer is it depends. First, it would be helpful if you got a withhold of adjudication which would then allow you to get the charge sealed. You still MUST disclose the charges even if sealed but it would help. Next, the licensing board (of whatever profession requires a license) then reviews these on an individual basis to see if you should be admitted into that profession. They have discretion to accept you but also to reject you. The best place to find an answer is to contact the licensing board of the profession you are seeking. They can tell you how much of a difference it will make. Even if the answer is no, the schooling will open many more doors than if you had done nothing. Good luck.
