Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida
Can a sentence be changed?
My friend was sentenced to 6 months in jail because he owed fines. I have the money to pay the fines, and was going to pay them before he went to court, but the date changed and he was sentenced before I could pay. Is there a way I can pay the fines and get the 6 month sentence dropped?

Re: Can a sentence be changed?
His attorney can file a motion for sentence modification and in the mean time have the fines paid. Contact a local criminal defense attorney for further information.

Probably not but you should contact his attorney. Besides, people are not sent to jail because they fail to pay fines due to economic hardship.
