Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

Possible sentence for scheme to defraud and counterfeit money

One of my family members was arrested and faces a charge of scheme to defraud and possibly for counterfeit money. What might be the most fortunate possibility for him? A few months?

Re: Possible sentence for scheme to defraud and counterfeit money

It would really depend on a lot of circumstances such as how how much money is alleged to have been stolen in the scheme to defraud, what your family member's prior criminal history is (especially as it relates to theft related offenses), whether he/she has the ability to make restitution to the victim(s), etc.

I would be more than happy to offer a FREE consultation by phone, or in person, to answer any questions your family may have.

Good luck.

Schemes to Defraud & Counterfeiting are both very serious charges. What happens to your family member depends on prior record, how big the scheme was, and what jurisdiction they are in. I suggest that your family hire an attorney. These are serious charges.

Re: Possible sentence for scheme to defraud and counterfeit money

Like my collegues said, it depends on a several factors like the amlount of money in question, if he can pay restiution upfront, and his prior history. These cases are usually either resolved with probation if there is restitution or prison if the money cannot be paid back. If the money cannot be repaid it would be more than a few monthsin jail. You must also consider the economic climate. Please have someone call my office if you are interested in representation.
