Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida
Sex Offender 1000 feet rule
My husband is a convicted SO. His offense and conviction were in 1997. He is not under supervision and has completed all court ordered sanctions. We are considering building a new home in a neighborhood where there will eventually be a community playpark, and our lot will be less than 1000 feet away. It is my understanding of F.S. 794.065 that this law would not apply to him because he is an offender, not a predator, he is not sanctioned, and his offense was prior to October 1, 2004. Can you confirm that I am interpreting it correctly? Thanks.

I would consult with an attorney in person for such a serious matter.
