Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida
I have a shoplifting charge from 5 years ago on my record. The adjudication was withheld so I only had to pay a fine. Do I have to mention it in an employment application if it is asking if I have ever been convicted of a crime?

This is always tricky. The truth is that you have not been convicted. However, it is likely that a background check will show it. The best thing you can do is to get it sealed, although understand that the process takes about 6-9 months. Meanwhile, it is probably best to disclose but offer an explanation.
