shoplifting in florida
i just recently got caught shoplifting a
40.00 dollars dvd set and was given a
PTA. i want to know what the charges
would be for this. i am only 18 years
old and this is my first offense.

based on the facts that you have stated you will be charged with Petit Theft, a misdemeanor in Florida.
In terms of a sentence it would most likely be rather light. The bigger problem for you would be what this charge will do to your record.
If you were to hire an attorney they should be able to get you enrolled into the Misdemeanor Diversion Program which will result in having your charges dismissed.
