Shoplifting

I recently shoplifted $125.00 from a department store. I'm 18 and it's my first time being in trouble with the law. I need advice and want to know what I should when i go to court. Also I wasn't arrested but received a ticket stating my court date because I was remorseful.

It would be smart to hire an attorney to help you through the process.

as you probably guessed your not looking at jail or anything like that, you just need to be concerned about what this could do to your criminal record and how that could affect career choices down the road.

Because you have no prior record, you are most likely eligible for the Misdemeanor Diversion Program; if you are able to complete this program, your case will be dismissed and you can later expunge any records of the arrest.
