Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida
shoplifting
18 years ago I was arrested for shiolifting, after which I went to court, pleaded guilty, because a plea of no contest would require periodic visits to an officer and I was leaving to go out of town to care for my mother who was dying (died 4 mos later). I paid my fine of $150. and have never done anything like that since, not even received a traffic ticket, my question.....this has left me with a record accessable to anyone, through public records and easily obtained on a computer. I am most ashamed about this, my family knows nothing about it, but I am afraid they could find out very easily, is there any way I can have that record cleared ???

NOTE: This communication is not intended as and should not be interpreted as legal advice. Rather, it is intended solely as a general discussion of legal principles. You should not rely on or take action based on this communication without first presenting ALL relevant details to a competent attorney in your jurisdiction and then receiving the attorney's individualized advice for you. Unfortunately, despite many rumors to the contrary, there is no free pass. Once you have been convicted of any crime, you cannot have your record expunged or sealed to have a fresh start.
