Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida
My son has been arrested on assult a few days ago on his ex-girlfriend and mother of his children. He had been for the last 2 1/2 years involved with DCF and the courts on domestic violence with the same young lady just before the case was closed around 6 months ago. He has a history of domestic violence issues with her and with us , his parents. He is an on again off again drug and alcohol user. He has been diagnosed with various mental issues. As he is incarcerated now, I want to request for the judge to not allow that he be released on any bond and to place him in a mental institution of some kind for help. We live in Florida, what can we do? He is 29 yrs. old.

If your son agrees, the state agrees, and the judge agrees, then he could be placed in a mental institution. Just understand that while you may feel it is in his best interest, either he or his attorney may not. Discuss these options with your son and his attorney.
