Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida
"My son was charged with 4 counts ~BURGLARY OF AN UNOCCUPIED CONVEYANCE & 3 counts ~GRAND THEFT THIRD DEGREE ($300 - $5,000) & 1 count ~ GRAND THEFT MOTOR VEHICLE. What possible time will he receive? He is 17 and has been on house arrest & probation within the last 3 years
1 Answer from Attorneys
Those are each third degree felonies, punishable by up to 5 years prison each, and therefore 20 years max. Since he has a prior record, he will probably be charged as an adult as well, but that is strictly up to the prosecutor's office. It's hard to say what he will actually receive because every case is different and depends on the victims, the judge, the prosecutor, and the defense attorney. Which you should contact right away in order to try and minimize this and work on your son's case.
