Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

My son is in ft Lauderdale flight. He has been arrested for aggravated assault with knife and is in county jail. His bond is $20,000. How long will he remain in jail and what happens to his belongings that were left behind when he was arrested. He has no family in Florida.

He will remain in jail until he either posts bond, has charges dismissed, goes to trial and is found not guilty, or works out a deal with the state to avoid jail/prison.
