Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

Sounding Hearing Rules and Procedures

My son [ the victim ] was recently killed in a traffic collision by another driver. That driver failed to yield the right of way.

We just received a letter from the State Attorney advising us of a 'Sounding Hearing' to determine

if all parties are ready for trial and to allow for plea negotiations.

Therefore, can you fully tell me what my rights are as the next of kin at this hearing.

Furthermore, we were recently notified from the State Atty that no criminal charges would be filed and now we receive this notice that the hearing will take place on March 23 next Week.

This is confusing and hastily unfolding before my eyes.

My son was our only child and I want to employ the most significant impact on all the issues and ramifications of this proceeding that are available to me. You may answer by e-mail if it is convenient for you, although I think a phone call may be better. If per chance you call and I'm out, please leave your number and a time to reach you and I will comply.

Thank you in advance for your thoughtful consideration.
