Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida
I started lending my employer money by paying supplies with my credit cards, the company then will pay the monthly payment, but I kept using the credit cards, and of course after 4 or 5 years it became a big mess, one credit card balance in particular kept growing, and since I was only paying with the company money, the part owed by the company was paid off, but I kept paying without noticing that I was really paying my own debt for about 2 years, now I owe my employer a big amount, which I want to pay back some how, but I'm really concern if I can go to jail for this?
1 Answer from Attorneys
You certainly could go to jail. It depends on how the state decides to charge it. Likely it would be under the theft statute (although fraud is possible). Since it is too difficult to answer on here without knowing more, I suggest you contact an attorney and discuss it with them in person.
