Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida
In the state of Florida the State misses deadline to file brief, can they be held accountable. Whose responsibility was it to make sure that at extension deadline another was filed. Five weeks passed and I had to call the clerk of court myself ( i am inmates mother). Is there a grievance or complaint that can be filed against either the Clerk of Court or the lawyer for not catching this.

There are a lot of different deadlines. If in doubt, ask the lawyer what the deadline is for the state. They must tell, IF THERE IS ONE. Often in post conviction matters, some things don't have a deadline. However, talk to your attorney.
